Tea Cup Cards

Welcome, and thank you for visiting again.

I have not had much time to paper craft recently as I have been sewing a very special project, so looked up these two older projects to share tonight.

The main image is from the Layers of Color stamp set Tea Cup Blessings. It was stamped in black ink and coloured with chalks, and the sentiments added as I wanted them - there are several variations available.

The image was fussy cut and mounted over a half doily cut using The French Pastry doily die by Cheery Lynn.

This was mounted over the background, which was part of a sheet of dp from the Prima 6x6 stack Fairy Flora, over the green card stock, run through the textile texture embossing folder by Provo Craft.

The  final touches were the pink bow and two strips of pink ribbon across the base of the card.

The second card uses the same stamp set and doily die, and is mounted over some dp from 'way back' and some wallpaper that I have rubbed a pink ink pad over.

This time the image was embossed before colouring, and the card finished with some stitched pink ribbon and Kaiser craft pearls in Plum and hot pink.

More sports

Welcome - thanks you for calling in.

I have entitled this 'more sports' as we here in the Antipodes are being bombarded with the Rugby World Cup fixtures, and the final is about to be played as I start this.

I made this for a young man - I don't really know him, so decided to make this 'sports neutral' by trimming off the round ball by the boys right foot - New Zealand is very much a rugby nation, so I did not want to offend him with a soccer ball!! The image is a freebie from Daisy Doodles.

The image was coloured with chalks, with the red detail being added with a sparkle pen, and the top of the trophy with a gold pen.

The side panel is acetate, painted with Lumiere paints on one side, and when dry, embossed with the divine swirls embossing folder.  I learnt this technique on Splitcoast Stampers, but have never been able to find it again to link it for you. This panel was stapled on to the base.

The tickets were a freebie from Marion 82 from her blog  When the Scrap Hits the Fun.  I had to cut them out by hand, but it was easy to do as they are so well designed.

Birdwatching

Thank you for calling - I trust you feel welcome here.

This is my second post for the day,  scroll down to see the first one.

I love this image released by McMahon Five Design.com this week of a girl in a tree, entitled Watching Birds - this reminds me so much of myself sitting in a tree (reading, rather than watching birds).

I printed it on some thin card, and painted it with Lyric watercolour crayons.

It was then mounted onto a bright yellow card, which I muted with some Tea Stain distress ink before mounting onto paper from the Prima 6x6 stack, Fairy Flora.  This was then mounted on a bright green base, and some wee bling flowers added - IRL they are  mauve and pink, not blue, and look good on the card.

Bookmark for a friend

Greetings - I am so glad to see you visit again.

This weeks release from McMahon Five Design.com includes this fabulous image called Blessings which begged to be made into a bookmark.

I printed onto some Curious Metallics Cryogen White paper which has a very 'discreet' sparkle to it, which shows through most colouring mediums.

The image background was painted with Lyric watercolour crayons, and the detail coloured with SU pencils.

The bumble bee was just such a sweet detail and I wanted to accent it, so the wings were painted with a silver paint and then I gave him some dimension by covering him with a dimensional glue.

The whole was mounted on a soft olive card, cream card and then some kraft after running some tea stain distress ink around the edge of the image.

A hole was punched and some cream and sparkling ribbon threaded through.

Cupcake birthday

Welcome, thank you for calling in.

Today I am sharing a 'flashback' image from McMahon Five Designs called

I started by printing the image and sentiment on a piece of paper from a Prima 6x6 stack called Romantique.

I  ran Crystal Stickles over the image details.

Made a row of flowers from some red paper I had on hand, and sprayed them with silver spray paint, which decided to flake off as I 'scrunched' them.

It still looked as though it needed something more, so I added these 'cocktail stars' - one of the first things I bought when I started card making some 10 years ago - so glad paper craft supplies don't 'go off'!!
I used them randomly around the cupcake and in a row under the sentiment to give it some focus.

Mounted the whole onto a red card base and I was done.

Give Thanks

Welcome once again - it is lovely to see you here.

I have only one card today from this weeks release from McMahon Five Design.com.

I love this scripture  "Give Thanks" and was thrilled to see it in this weeks release.  I printed off onto a strong yellow paper, and mounted that onto the orange card that I used for card base.

The main design paper is from a Doodlebug design pack, and I embossed it with the Divine Swirls folder, and ran and Whispers Mossy Stone ink pad over it.

I laid two lengths of lace back to back down the length of the card, and topped it with some ribbon.

Adhered the wee Prima Fairytale Roses to which I had added some Crystal Stickles  and the card was finished.

Thank You to an Angel in Disguise

Welcome to my blog again, and thank you for visiting - I do appreciate it when you call by.

We recently have had a few disruptions to our usual laid back lifestyle, and during this time we had a friend who visited each day and bought us fresh baking - yummy!!

This is the thank you card I made for her.

I started by stamping the May Boutique stamp from Layers of Color in black ink on white Cryogenic paper and clear embossing it.  the image was then painted with twinkling H2O's.

The combination of the paints and paper gave an incredible sparkle to this IRL, and I have tried to capture it here. I then matted that onto a blue card and onto a white base.

The sentiment was then stamped and cut out and sponged using the smallest die from the Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio.

The twill ribbon was simply folded and held in place with glue dots to make the bow, and the button adhered to the top.

I simple card to make, but one that I was very pleased with, as is the "angel" who received it.

A most vexing question!!

Welcome back to my blog - I do love it when you visit.

Recently my DH has not been well, and there was a most important birthday imminent and he did not feel well enough to go and purchase a card - knowing this I relented, and asked if he would like me to make a card, which offer he gratefully accepted.

The question was, what did he want me to make - and this is the result, which he was most happy with.

I knew he would like a 'romantic' card as he is a big softie, and as the card was for me.... well what else but hearts and flowers, pearls and lace.

The red base card has a gold fleck in it.  The pink layer on top of that was randomly stamped with a small flower from the Layers of Color Merci Bouquet Clear Art Stamp set in Versamark ink, then dusted with red pearl-ex powder.

The sentiment was stamped in Memento Rocket Red and clear embossed.

The doily was cut using a Spellbinders Floral doily die, the edges sponged with Memento Sky ink, and centre was sprayed with Rangers Perfect Pearls Forever Blue.

The heart from Kiwi Stamping was stamped in Rocket Red and clear embossed, cut, and had the lace adhered to the back of it before it was mounted with foam dots, which gave lots of dimension.

I wanted to add lace to the extended border, but it looked so WRONG I flinched when I tried it, so out came the Floral Doily accents and I used two of those for the edging

DH was so impressed that he paid me for it - as an additional gift.  Trouble is he said I had to spend the money on myself, not card making supplies.  So I think an online trip to a bookshop maybe in order...

Purple Happy Birthday

Welcome once more - it is so good to know you call by.

This weeks release from McMahon Five Design.com includes a wonderful Happy Birthday sentiment that I was immediately drawn to.

Once I had printed out the image I chose, I decided to keep it simple and  let the sentiment take centre stage.

The opposite corners of the sentiment panel were pierced from the back and rubbed with green chalk.

The panel was matted on matching green card stock, and then onto purple and some metallic butterflies added - they are more purple than the camera shows.

A simple card to construct and yet quite dramatic.
